Course Overview:

Aromatherapy uses plant materials and aromatic plant oils, including essential oils, and other aroma compounds for the purpose of altering one's mood, cognitive, psychological or physical well-being. It can be offered as a complementary therapy or, more controversially, as form of alternative medicine. 

In this course we will discuss and become familiar with the principles of aromatherapy, the benefits of aromatherapy, the items and techniques used in aromatherapy, and the fundamentals of the aromatherapy business.

Students will:
  • Educate others about appropriate holistic health protocols using essential oils to support and rebalance the body and restore wellness for general good health
  • Discuss aromatherapy, its history, use, and status of current research
  • Blend and administer essential oils safely
  • Discuss the therapeutic uses and methods of administration for most mainstream essential oils
  • Describe the methods of creating, blending and using essentials oils
  • Define and explain the scientific application of essential oils and application of aromatherapy
  • Describe the primary method for obtaining and selling essentials oils
  • Turn your home into a relaxing aromatherapy spa

About This Course:

We arecommitted to offering world class interactive online courses that provide training and learning support for the student in a number of ways during their experience. This course structure has been developed to provide activities to guide students throughout the entire process of learning. Learning activities include hands-on assignments that allow students to use what they are learning to allow better transferable skills within their work environments.

When a student learns, they are not alone. Each student will be supported by our student services department – which ranges from course mentors, registrar, and technical support assistance. Every month students have a progress report run on them every month by our student services department to ensure they are making satisfactory progress. If a student falls behind, we reach out to them personally by phone call every month to see if there is anything we can do to continue to assist them with moving forward in their course.

Course Outline:

Lesson 1: Essential Oils

In this Lesson, aromatherapy will be introduced, along with its history and timeline including most mainstream essential oils being currently used.  Their therapeutic uses will be covered as well as how to identify and mix vital essential oils necessary for good health. we will discuss the history of aromatherapy, its benefits, and its common practices. 

Lesson 2: Purchasing and Administering Essential Oils

In this lesson, we will discuss the correct way to purchase authentic essential oils and how to spot less than authentic versions.  Administering will also be covered as to how to best use essential oils for impactful and beneficial, positive results.

Lesson 3: Safely Using Essential Oils

In this lesson, we will take an in-depth look at using essential oils safely.  Since oils can be used topically and internally, it is very important to understand the science behind oils and how to properly use them alone or with carrier oils.

Lesson 4: How to use aromatherapy to cure common stresses

This lesson will introduce specific essential oils and their recipes for success.  Recipes will be included, both mixology and dosage for curing the common tension headache and stress headache.

Lesson 5: Aromatherapy massage

In this lesson, we will review the most popular, and best practices techniques, for using essential oils in massage therapy including tips, techniques and best practices.

Lesson 6: How to create an aromatherapy home spa

In this lesson, we will cover how to turn your home into the most relaxing, therapeutic home spa including what oils to use, essential combinations for relaxation, and setup for the most luxurious spa retreat.

Lesson 7: Aromatherapy Careers

This lesson will provide a detailed look at the various career paths, options and certifications to become an aromatherapist.  Although there is no formal accredited educational degree program in aromatherapy, we will provide information about skills and knowledge regarding the two primary types of aromatherapy careers – certified and registered aromatherapist.

Lesson 8: Final, comprehensive exam

All necessary materials are included.
